Nepaholic
I came back on Monday from my 2 weeks vacation on Fuerteventura and found this in my trailer. I lost my whole nepenthes collection. I just have a few villosa, rajah seedlings and 2 hamata hairy and 1 truncata black left. All others are dead. Also the most heliamphora survived... Big mystery why this happened to me. I found the plug for the heater out of the wall. I dont no why this can happen as my neighbor say everything was ok a day before..... N. izumiae x tm N. macrophylla N. truncata x tm N. lowii The plants here look ok due to the white balance but they are also brown/black 10-14year old variegated villosa x TM I checked today again because i still have hope but all the green parts on the plants and stem are very soft so they are completely death.... flycatchers
So sorry to hear & see this Jens It sounds like sabotage, could somebody have broken in? After you having to go back to the trailer from you greenhouse setup you seemed to have been dogged with bad luck. And with such a marvellous collection. I really hope that some still pull threw for you and that 2010 turns out a better year. Good luck... bill
mobile
Sorry to hear about your loss. Such a shame as you had a marvellous collection. Could someone have tripped over the power cable and accidentally pulled the plug out of the wall?

Phil Green
Again, really sorry to hear this Jens. Don't give up on them - they can be tough little buggers. Hopefully some will regrow from basals, so give them many months before chucking em. Hope you have a better 2010.
Amori
I shed a few tears of sorrow for both the state of the plants and how you must feel. I'm so sorry Jens.

Thomas Straubmuller
Hi Jens! That´s horrible! I was always happy when you showed us some new pictures of your collection. The villosa might be the biggest lost. Bad ending for 2009. Wish you all the best for next year! You started long time ago with a tiny collection. That´s a new beginning - keep it up! Best regards, Thomas

Nepaholic
I started to sort out the dead plants and there are some plants where still is a chance that those survived. The most small plants who was under the big HPS lamps still have a green steam under the media. So i chopped them down to this and hopefully they will sprout out again. But still. all of my big plants are dead and all plants with sift leafs like hamata,tentaculata..... too Jens

MarcelvW
Sorry for your loss Maybe the police thought you were growing plants that where illegal, and cut the power off. Hopefully you will not give up and be back in business soon. Edited December 25, 2009 by MarcelvW
mobile
JensB, Did you found out what happened? Are your plants covered by an insurance policy?

The heater was plugged out? I dont believe the insure company will do much against it because they are "just" plants..... I didnt find out whats happened. I just know the plug was out and my neighbor know nothing....I need to install a webcam or something... Cheers Jens Edited December 25, 2009 by JensB
