Zlatokrt
Hello, it has been a while since i last posted some pics, so i choose those i considered to be the best from this summer and here they are. I hope you will like them :-) My new lava rock - you might remember from the last year another setup for mexican pings. This one is bigger and better and the plants grow very well on it. I have seen this picture (http://www.pinguicul...zache30(HR).jpg) and tried to make sort of cracks for smaller species, where they would grow like on that photo. The result is not exactly like in the nature, but it also looks nice i think. And some plants on it: P. colimensis Flowering P. cyclosecta P. debbertiana P. esseriana P. gracilis Another flowering species, P. gypsicola Tiny P. immaculata, one of my favourites P. jaumavensis in the sunshine And P. macrophylla with its beautiful flower My second lava rock with some other (mostly larger) species (P. agnata, ibarrae, laueana, pilosa, moranensis and rectifolia) A few other plants; D. roraimae D. spec. Cerro Duida The best pitcher on my N. jacquelinae so far And the last photo, U. alpina on cork bark flowering on several stalks Enjoy! Fernando Rivadavia
The Ping lava rocks look beautiful!!! Plus I'm so flattered that one of my pics from Mexico served as inspiration. :) Congrats, Fernando
Daniel O.
I like your lava rock as well, perhaps i should try it also one day. And of course i like the Drosera. Best regards, Dani
Guest Andreas Eils
Adam, what a great display of Pinguicula!!! Oh, so true, Pinguicula immaculata is a real jewel! I´ve killed mine unfortunately. But one day I´ll surely try it again...maybe on a lava rock? "She"´s a diva, isn´t "she"?! ;o) Your Droserae roraimae are really blessed by the sun! Excellent colour and shape! Best regards Andreas
Zlatokrt
Thanks Andreas: as P. immaculata grows on calcareous rocks, i add some crushed travertine and limestone around the roots. And D. roraimae isnt actually blessed by the sun, but the strong LEDs
Trish
Beautiful healthy plants and fantastic arrangements on the rocks, where do they grow, outside or indoors? Trish
Zlatokrt
Trish: the ping rocks are on south-east facing windowsill.
Guest Andreas Eils
Ah? Well, if our sun will die one day we don´t have to be too afraid. Strong LEDs will do the job as well! Seriously, the LEDs work superb! Thank you for the information about lime stone and travertine as an additive to the soil of P. immaculata. Will keep that in mind! Bye Andreas
Carlos Rohrbacher
Oh, great work! I liked these pings but I like more the drosera, very healthy plants!
Rodrigo
Wonderful, its cultivation is excellent . These Pinguiculas in the Lava Rock is something at least unusual. Just out of curiosity, how do you do to protect these carnivorous plants of European winter, since they are on a rock in your backyard? Best regards, Rodrigo
Zlatokrt
Rodrigo: they are usually on the windowsill, i just took them out because of the better light for taking photos. The rock is not that large - just about 50 x 50 cm and about 15 kg (when soaked with water, much lighter during the winter dry period).
