  1. Dear all, I will post and update information about lectures prepared on EEE 2019 in Prague here. Exact dates and times have not been chosen yet, but will be in advance. The lecture hall has more than 100 seats, so it should be large enough, and we are not going to demand any registrations for the lectures. Confirmed lectures: Dr. Tomáš Hájek: The fate of peatbogs during the dry years and their future in the changing climate Oliver Gluch: Winter flowering Pinguicula species - impressions from natural habitats in Mexico Dr. Lubomír Adamec: Ecophysiological characterization of aquatic carnivorous plants: are they different from terrestrial ones? We are looking forward all of you in June! Adam Veleba

Nice plants Aymeric! Do they go dormant during summer? Just curious, mine doesn't...

Tuberous sundews - GA3 on tubers?

Hi, i have several species of tuberous sundews (D. porrecta, D. macrophylla, D. erythrorhiza...), which have not sprouted this winter and are therefore dormant for about a year now. Dont know why, most of the other species sprouted and growed normally. I worry about them, since i have already lost some - the tubers simply depleted all of their reserves and died. My colleague proposed me to treat them with GA3, similarly as with the seeds, it should stop the dormancy and stimulate them to grow. So... what do you think? Anyone tried it? Or does anyone have any other advice? Good growing Adam

Same as Fryderik, I do not want to offend you, Lepto, but you wrote (in the separate post "beware the carnivoria.eu"): "I have constant 65% humidity and red/blue/white Led lighting, with a very good soil mixture." I think that 65% humidity is not enough for a newly acquired plant, it is close to a normal house air humidity (which is said to be 40 - 60% optimally) and is far from a natural air humidity (which can peak up to 100% during the night). Also, what is your "very good soil mixture" composed of, are you sure it is good for establishing of a new plant? And just by the way, it is usual to send plants bare rooted, potted plants are sent only very, very rarely as it is more risky (the pot can easily damage the plant).

Stunning plants... comparing to my own (much poorer) plants I must ask - do you fertilize them somehow? Adam

    Carnivorous plants in Brazil

It must have been a magnificent trip Christian, thanks for sharing the pics. BTW: the soil looks as quite dry for D. chrysolepis, was it?

    Any spaghnum moss experts?

Take a picture of some of its stem and branch leaves under a microscope (to see the whole leaf and possibly also under a higher magnitude to see the cells), then we can try to determine it precisely. I would personally guess S. fallax or S. flexuosum, however, I cant remember whether they can have reddish stem and I do not know, whether they grow on New Zealand.

    Axolotls extinct

Sad news to me. Last think I knew was that they are heavily endangered, but not they are extinct completely.

    Awesome shot of those tadpoles!
  23. Stunning pics! Your plants are much faster than mine... I have just a small flower stalk :-) Dont you have a problem with Sphagnum overgrowing the tiny leaves of U. campbelliana?
