I have found it easy to find lists or webpages dedicated to highland nepenthes and orchids but have a very short list of other carnivorous plants and non carnivorous plants that require similar conditions. does anyone have a list of or a link to cooler growing ferns and epiphytes. cheers

Thanks for the replies the plant I'm trying to find would have to fit the requirements in my poison dart frog terrarium hence the reason for such small traps or cups. Day time temperature is 24 c and night temperature drops to 20 c humidity is 90% constantly. Lighting is Arcadia jungle dawn with amazing results but the only down fall is air flow which I have purposely restricted but is not stagnant . This might restrict my choices even further .

Hi I'm looking for a miniature nepenthes. Not really concerned about compact growth but I'm trying to find one with a mature trap or cup opening of no more than 10 or 12 mm. Is there such a plant?

i use a fine 4 mm mesh on the doors of my little grow house to prevent bees and butterflies and grandchildren getting near them but large hoverflies still squeeze through

same here my little growhouse is buzzing with trapped flies morning noon and night . i guess there all just full up and my big purpurea venosa is starting to smell a bit funky

can i ask is that a fern with the swollen rhyzome?

i was starting to flap a bit but weve had a lot of rain overnight waterbutts now full happy days

a grassy bank just up the road from me was covered with them but the council have cut the grass now big shame

i use gorilla tape in my survival kit when mountain biking miles from any town where sheep dare not to go. it fixes ripped tyres broken glasses and helmet and with gorilla tape and a tree branch to help i rode 18 miles back home with a snapped frame. a 6 inch gash in my leg taped back together allowed me to finish a long ride at the lake district.oh and i used it to seal the edges of the twin wall polycarbonate on my little grow house two years ago and its still stuck. i cleaned the surface where the tape is to applied with brake cleaner and pressed firmly its takes some getting off if you make a mistake. its good stuff

i get my horticulteral sand from homebase its not as course as grit sand but works well for me

glad its not just me then we have had some good frosts but the afternoon sunshine is bringing the flowers along .

does any one have a list of sarracenia with a maxium growing hieght of around 40 cm please. ive been asked to biuld a bog garden next year for a friend who wants low growing sarracenia near a garden pond. cheers

started trimming the older traps as they turn black and had a good clean up ready for the winter but the plants are still looking good despite some good frosts

several years ago i was a garden center manager at a local diy store and i was shocked to see the amount of plants that were binned each week . i left as a resulting argument with the store manager. still it bugs me to see garden centre staff at big diy stores watering cp with tap water and having no knowledge what so ever about the needs of the plant and the plant labels read water twice a week feed once a month with own brand liquid ferts and repot in spring with own brand house plant compost. i know that every one is not an expert . but still ive rescued a few vft for pennies and have turned into great plants good luck
