I am so upset and sorry about the death of Rik Mayall today that I had to put this post.

Having grown up in the 80s and watched him in The Young Ones, Filthy, Rick and Catflap, Blackadder, The New Statesman and

so many others including the most recent Channel Four programme Man Down, I am so sorry he is no longer with us. It is a real loss for television comedy.

I also had the privilege of having seen him on stage and laughed so very, very hard that I lost my voice for a couple of

days.

Its a sad day indeed.....

I can remember sitting in bed with my shoulders shaking and silent tears of laughter rolling down my face while watching them go "phweeep" through a hole in the wall in Hotel Paradiso. A rare feeling that and only triggered by perfect comedy timing.

Bottom, The Young Ones, Flasheart, the beer ads. A real loss.

RIP Rik. Lots of actors and comedians fall of the parrots perch but I will really miss Rik.

Cheers,

Steve

This is really terrible news...I absolutely loved his violent and insane humor. b****** had to go!

There were times when Rik and I were writing together when we almost died laughing. They were some of the most carefree stupid days I ever had, and I feel privileged to have shared them with him. And now he's died for real. Without me. Selfish b a s t a r d.
