From what I have read it does not seem straight forward with these plants, also do you know the best way to pollinate them? be good to attempt to get some seeds if it's possible. mattynatureboy44
should make for an interesting hybrid there! Yes hopefully if I can pollinate the flowers! I have never had success from seeds with Nepenthes so would have to sell/swap or give away most on the forum and hope some germinate. mattynatureboy44
The female flowers have nearly all opened but the male flowers are just beginning to open and being slow. How long roughly do I have to pollinate the female flowers?

DanH
Hi Matty, what other neps are you growing that do well on your window sill other than Bill Bailey?
mattynatureboy44
Hi Matty, what other neps are you growing that do well on your window sill other than Bill Bailey? All the neps I grow (which are all on my growlist)are together in a conservatory some have taken longer to adjust to the conditions than others but it must be a magic conservatory as all plants seem to like it. I have found leaving them alone and forgetting about them a bit the best way for me to look after them.
mattynatureboy44
Pollination has commenced, I have a few photo's and think I will have a lot of pollen spare from my Sanguinea Black Jack as I have not even used the 2nd flower and have gone over all the female flowers with pollen a few times already. The buds are not fully open yet on the other flower. Do the Female pods go darker once pollinated like the one at the top in this photo? I pollinated this one first a few days ago. WP_20130708_008 by mattynatureboy44, on Flickr Still impressed by this nep Bill Bailey it was re potted in early spring this year has not stopped producing pitchers for me even when flowering and the re pot, still grows very quickly and has even produced 3 new plants in small off shoots in the pot I wish all neps were like this. WP_20130708_016 by mattynatureboy44, on Flickr WP_20130708_019 by mattynatureboy44, on Flickr The male flowers still a lot to open so anyone want some pollen pm me. Should make for a nice dark hybrid all being well. Edited July 25, 2013 by mattynatureboy44
dimitar
Can you give me any advice on the best way to pollinate them? Two ways I use - first get the 2 plants u want to pollinate together when they are in flower and when the female receptors are ready and the male flower is full of pollen put them together by hand and brush them into each other so the pollen rubs on to the female flower and pollination is completed. The trick is to have the male flower and female flower ready at the same time... The second is by paint brush. Both work the same...
