Gekon
Hi I have a problem with deciding when to start putting my splants into the dormancy (outside). This question is mainly aiming at the growers living in Manchester (or around) because they know what the weather is like here....
mantrid
You dont decide this if they are growing outside. They will naturally go into dormancy as the weather gets colder and the days shorten. All you have to do is protect from freezing winds, too much rain and possibly prolonged subzero temps
Gekon
Yes I know that but the problem for me is that pots are standing in a tray full of water, and plants in dormancy can not stand in water, therefore I don't know when to get them out of there... Alexis
Mid October is usually a good time.
Loakesy
I usually stop watering my plants in mid-late November and start again in mid-late February-ish (dependant on the weather)
mantrid
My technique is if it isnt sunny tip the water out of the trays, but just make sure the soil is damp. We have enough rain to keep the soil moist. In the dead of winter you will probably need to protect from the rain as it will then be too wet

billynomates666
Hi bpb They look as though doormancy if not with them already is immanent, so yes but keep them damp. cheers Steve
