Oleksii
Hi to all! I want to try to grow some CP in vitro and my first attempts will be with liquid medium and Utricularia. And question is: how can I sterilize plants? They are really tiny and I afraid that standard procedure with bleach will kill them. Do you have any suggestion? Thanks! mantrid
The cell wall and cuticle (waxy layer) of the epidermis (outer cell layer) will protect the plant during a quick immersion. I have not done TC so cant give you time plant should be immersed. Probably under a minute or even a few seconds. Im sure someone else will know

cpa
That's a useful link. I quite fancy trying tissue culture myself. Thanks.
Oleksii
Mantrid, I also thought something like that... Mobile, thanks a lot for a link, it's really useful! Today I try few methods — from 5 minutes in bleach to just few rinses in bleach and Et-OH. If there is contamination, it become seem after two-three days

Looks like an issue with their website, as it worked when I initially posted it. dergeier7
I used to disinfect the petiole with 75% acohol then 10% NaOCl but this method often kills explants. Now I find 0.1% mercuric cloride is parctical!
bux
mercuric chloride Should not be used anymore as it is highly toxic!
