SteveMc
Hi all, I'm new to forum and CP's (growing some for about a year). My first plant i picked up was this: <img> Could anyone identify please? Also, this photo was taken when i first got it. Pitchers all died back over winter (as I expected), it is growing strong again but very slow in developing new traps. I have recently bought a pvc tented style greenhouse for it to live in. Humidity is between 80-100% and temp. between 15 and 35 degrees. Is this an ok environment. Love the site and all the great photos from other growers, I can only hope mine do as well! Steve. flycatchers
Hi Steve, It looks like either a N. spectabilis or even more likely a N. spectabilis x ventricosa. They are very robust and can handle quite high temperatures and fairly low humidity. I keep mine outside during the summer, gradually introducing it to full sun. Nice plant cheers bill
SteveMc
Many Thanks! I also have an X Ventrata which unfortunately looks slightly worse for wear at the mo, as I stupidly let it get full sun and now some of the leaves are badly burnt. There is light however, as I managed to take four cuttings early in spring which have succesfully taken :) It has responded well (despite the leaf burn) to being moved from inside my house to the new tented greenhouse and is quickly developing new traps. Winter seems like it is going to be a problem for my Neps, with the poor light levels. I just hope they will recover a little quicker next year! Neil Cornish
Hi Steve, Where did you get your mystery Nep from, if you don't mind me asking? Sure looks like N. spectabilis x ventricosa ( as mentioned above ) but I'd be surprised if that had come from a garden centre. Great looking plant all the same and your N. ventrata's looking healthy too. Regards Neil

SteveMc
Hi Neil, The plant was given to me by my mother when I first got interested in CP's back in 2005. I believe it was given to her by a work colleage....... although why anyone would give a lovely little plant like it is away i don't know!
