12th part: the first encountered Pinguicula longifolia

Recommended Posts

This station of Pinguicula sp. Rio Ara was only the first one of a long serie.

Indeed, they are many other sites where Pinguicula grandiflora Lam. subsp. grandiflora Lam., Pinguicula longifolia Ramond ex DC. as well as their hybrid live together:

Then we enter the Parque Nacional de Ordesa y Monte Perdido for a long hike through the magnificent Valle de Ordesa.

The approach walk is very long but offers two sites of Pinguicula longifolia Ramond ex DC., unfortunately it is too early to see flowers in full bloom. They live on rocks in the middle of forests but always in relatively lightfull places:

Higher, trees disappear in favor of mountain pastures. Here, it is the Pinguicula grandiflora Lam. subsp. grandiflora Lam. kingdom that can be found in every humid lawn:

And then at a turn of the path, the kandscape become magnificent:

In the middle of those quiet pastures, at the foot of the majestic Monte Perdido, fauna and flora blossom in total freedom. In addition to the numerous large-flowered butterworts, many animals, not really scared of human presence, let us observe them peacefully, including the mythic isard:

Then we go back down to the valley to observe some more sites of Pinguicula longifolia Ramond ex DC. hoping to see this species in flower.
