  1. Hey everybody! I was just wondering if Rooting Hormones are OK to use with CP's. If not all of them are, please tell me which ones I can use or what it has to have in it to be labeled as 'usable on CPs'. Thanks and bye, -Calek.

    Flower stem

Hey Everybody! My VFT is just producing a flower stem. But it is not the most healthy of plants, and I don't think its very old. So I don't want to let it flower. Therefore I need to know what height the flower stem should reach before its cuttable... Thanks for your attention... Thanks and bye, -Calek.

  5. Hey everybody! My dad just got me some seeds in Sydney and is bringing them back soon. Now I dont really know in which type of pot I should plant all the seeds in (shape, size, etc). The seeds are of the species Sarracenia and Dionaea. Also if there is any particular mehtod of sowing these seeds that is very successful with you guys please tell it to me, I will be really grateful. Well...as I'm sure you can see I'm in a bit of a rush... So Bye and thanks! -Calek.

  8. WHAT THE HECK!? How Odd :S. Still I find it cruel...they pick the pitchers of Nepenthes just like picking flowers off daisies!!! It actually might not taste so bad...but I still wouldn't try it! XD
  9. Hey, Yes, when some of the digestive enzymes are spilled or the digestive enzymes level is a bit low or anything, I have found that putting in a touch of rainwater (maybe a little less than halway full is OK) Does the plant no harm. -Calek

    HELP PLEASE

Well, Hey everybody! I am really baffled up. I got a VFT, and the guy that sold it to me told me that all the plants he sells do not need dormancy, he is not a seller or anything, just a guy who lives around where I live and has a huge collection of CP's and sold me some. Now here in Colombia where I live there is no winter period. And he says he never puts his plants for dormancy, not even in his fridge, and believe it or not he has some really nice plants there, specially his sarracenia and Drosera. He has all types of plants, flowering ones, mature ones, seedlings, smaller ones, all types of species, etc etc. Plus there is NO WAY that he could fit all of his plants into his fridge. It also isn't the case that his plants die after 2 years or so. He sows all of his plants from seed and he has some really nice mature ones (specially S. Purpurea, S. Leucophylla, VFT's, All Drosera Species, and Utricularia). So this made me wonder, could there be a possibility that my plant doesn't need dormancy? Or those listed before? If you are all sure there is not a chance this is true, then, at what time of the year should I put my VFT in the fridge? Any help or comments are appreciated. Thanks! Bye! EDIT: So...you've basically answered that my plant DOES indeed need the dormancy...But now that I know that I know that...can somebody tell me at which time to the year to put my VFT in the fridge?

    aerial traps?

Hey everybody! I was just wondering...all of the dionaea muscipula photos I see around the internet and videos, ad plants in real life have aerial traps, they grow on a shoot and do not touch the ground. I was wondering why my VFT seems to only produce terrestrial traps (yes..leafs with traps that grow on floor ). It grows plenty of them really quickly, and all of them look nice and pinkish inside and are nicely formed...etc etc...they look good. But the traps are really small! The biggest trap I got was around 1.5 CM...I mean thats not very big...is it?The plant probably is like 6 CM from side to side and is sort of like a rossete, quite odd if you ask me! It grows in a big pot, very tall maybe even 25 CM tall and 10 CM wide. It is growing outside with lots of sun in a bottle terrarium and has plenty of nice insecty snacks around. It is generously watered with rainwater every time I see the soil isn't wet enough (I never let the soil dry out completely). Well, any ideas of why it might be producing only small terrestrial traps will be welcome., Even if it is by a long shot! Thanks for everything! Bye!

    Traps closing

I live in a cold climate of Colombia, in Bogota, at day time it is usually around 16 degrees Celsius. At night time or early morning it can go down to 5 or 6 degrees Celsius, but is usually around 9 degrees Celsius. The rain doesn't manage to enter the bottle terrarium, and sphagnum moss is growing all around it. Well anyhow, thanks for your reply!
  19. Lovely plants! I specially like the Drosera Prolifera!

Sounds like a different mold to mine, mine starts spreading and doesn't stop unless I take it off. And I don't think computer fan would fit in my bottle terrarium.
