Hi guys,

Basic question here.

How do you pot you pings? What I mean is that some of them are really quite small and it is difficult to get soil back in around the roots without damaging the plants. How do you guys do it?

Regards,
Philip.

Personally, I put abit of potting mix against the roots, most sorta sticks on, then I just put the plant into the pot, and push down gently.

fill a pot with compost, slightly over-full, and firm well.
make a slit with a small implement (I use an old knife or clay modelling tools), drop roots of Ping into slit, then carefully slide your implement between the soil and the leaves to press the slit closed.
keeps the plant clean!

I just put very small ping's on the soil and leave them and press on them a bit so they'll stuck up to the soil. Always works.

Similar to Stephen's method. Little hole in moist mix, put roots (or roots with a lump of soli) into a hole, gently press soil around plant and gently press plant into soil :) But I use old little metal nail file :) And I realize, that potting very little pings can be a little annoying.

Thanks guys,

I have just been making a small hole with my finger and dropping the ping into the hole and "poking" all around the roots trying to firm them in. Only problem is this usually lifts the plant of  the surface slightly. I will try with a old knife next time and I like the idea of trying to get some soil on the roots before they are placed in the hole.

And Jim they are Mexican Pings!

Thanks,
Philip

I build a slight mound (loosley formed) at the top of the pot and gently press the ping rosette into it. After that, I lightly mist from above .Then I water on the tray system.
