Martin Hingst
It's saturday morning, and the first opportunity for quite a long time to look after my plants. I just wanted to clean the backplane of my tepui terra, but how could I, with such beautiful squatters living there... Originally, the terra was designed for these Edit: i´ve posted pictures of my terra before here http://www.cpukforum.com/forum/index.php?s...=5991&st=60 regards Martin Edited October 17, 2007 by Martin1

Bob H
Martin, you are just going to have to stop showing that terrarium  I want it and I haven't the room :-( Really nice images, especially sandersonii

Brian_W
Nice! I like how you have the U. sandersonii growing over the surface of rocks, just like they would in nature. Brian

Guest Sheila
Is that also U. tricolor on the left of the Heliamphora in the original pics you posted? If it is have you managed to get it to flower?
Martin Hingst
Hello Sheila, yes the "underbrush" consisted mainly of tricolor at that time. But it never flowered in there. Some of my tricolor plants grow outside in direct sunlight along with my pygmy drosera, and these produce many flower stalks each late summer to autumn. But they all abort when reached about 10-15cm. I blame it at least in part on the low humidity. I ever had only one flower opened up in the last 10 years or so, and haven't got the answer for this problem. But as a guess - very bright light and tropical conditions may be the key. But unforunately, my small (new :) ) tropical terrarium isn't high enough... regards Martin
Guest Sheila
Thanks for the reply Martin. I am determined to see flowers on my tricolor one day, I get flower stems every year but like yours, they always abort at 10-15 cms. I have tried various conditions and light levels but still no flowers. I will just have to keep trying. Your Heliamphora look gorgeous. Very healthy looking specimens. bwdoz
That really looks tremendous. One of these days I'll get around to trying to build one myself! :) Bruce
LLeopardGGecko
I love how the Utrics are climbing the walls. Very cool looking. Did you plan that or did they just start spreading like mad?
Martin Hingst
Hello LLeopardGGecko, sorry, just found your question today, while linking this thread to another forum! Both would be correct, I planted one little shoot in a gap in the stone and fixed it with some moss. Since then it spreaded around everywhere. Today the whole stone is overgrown with sandersonii, I often think about cleaning the surface, as I like to see the the rock itself too, and there are many old brown flower stalks that I should remove anyway. But I can`t do it ...
