johns
Can purpurea ssp. purpurea be started and grown indoors for the first 2-3 years, as with other Sarracenia?
jimscott
I just read recetly about someone growing this on a sunny window sill. For better results, they need to be outside. They are temperate plants and will need a dormancy period as well.
johns
To clarify: I've read that many Sarracenia can be grown from seed indoors for the first two to three years, to achieve adult size faster. I'm wondering if this can be done for purpurea ssp. purpurea as well, given that it grows in colder climates than the other Sarracenia. I know that they generally require a cold dormancy. KoShiatar
I actually recall reading that purpurea is one of the few species that does well with artificial lighting, so give it a shot. Also, seedlings need a bit less light than adult plants until 2 years or so of age.
