Barry-Rice
Hey Folks, I have not seen the species description of Nepenthes saranganiensis. Does someone have access to this? I'd like to see what elevation range the plant was found at. Cheers Barry

BobZ
The description of N. saranganiensis (Kurata) was published in the Journal of the Insectivorous Plant Society (Japan) volume 54, number 2, page 41 (April 2003) [in Japanese]; and also, volume 54, number 3, (July 2003). http://www2.odn.ne.jp/~chr79360/IPS,Japan/journal.htm Perhaps one of our members with access to that journal could look it up? tonyc
I think I remember seeing a composite pic of several different views of the plant in habitat posted on the web a year or so ago. Maybe it was a scan from the Japanese journal posted without permission: anyway, I can't find it now. As I recall, the plant looked very close to alata (which doesn't give much of a clue as to it's altitude :?) Cheers, Tony.
Barry-Rice
Hey Folks, Duh, I feel like a dolt. I looked this up in my copy of the Japanese journal, and found the plant occurs at 1000-1500 meters. Sorry about the superfluous question! kltower
Can the Phillippines Sp2 of Borneo Exotics be the elusive Nepenthes saranganiensis? http://www.borneoexotics.com/Species%20Data/nsp2.htm Choong
Thomas G
Hi, N.saranganiensis is very similar to N.alata. The only difference is that N.saranganiensis has decurrent leaf bases which N.alata has not. To my knowledge N.saranganiensis is an epiphyte restricted to one single mountain. Greetings Thomas.
