Hi Shoggoths Well in my Ping wall usually have two sections the lower where the water tend to flow is more wet like the upper seccion where is more dry (this is the same as Fernando's Ping wall), for the plants who need more dry side I put this in the upper secction like P.rotundiflora, P.esseriana, P.agnata, but in the lower section I put more wet plants like P.primuliflora, P.emarginata and some utric sandersonii, when you need to give a rest period to your Pings only you need to water less the entire wall, but at least for know the wall became very dry very quickly about every two or three days I need to wet again the entire wall so the plants who require more dry side is not a problem they produce very well the winter bulb, my Pings who I grow in pots tent to rot very quickly if I put more water and usually I water every 10 -15 days in the rest perior but in the Ping Wall this is not a problem vecause the wall became dry very quickly, and for now I lost only two plants by brown heart desease. Thanks to remind me to post new pictures of my Ping wall.   9. by the way Rodrigo, Here where I live in El Salvador I can't find pure peat moss, so I use peat with fertilizer ingredient, and my pings really like it, you can use it.

Hi Rodrigo I use 1 part of each with particles smaller than 5 mm -Pumice rock -Lava rock -Perlite -Peat moss -Silica Sand -small amount of Clay or mud If you have it you can use Vemiculite and for the gypsum species you can use some dolomite. I read in my FB group some use a bit of iron oxide Best Regards

  12. thanks so much Aymeric, I hope to evolve well. thank so much Fernando, inspiring your Ping-Wall to create another one hehe, I only use steel mesh in one side, cause I dont want to have oxide in the plants, but I use the fishing line in both sides, with using the Steel mesh I can built the entire wall in about 4 hrs. Rodrigo thanks so much for your kind word, hopefully this project grow very well with so many Pinguiculas =).

Hi to all I decided to make a Ping-Wall in mini version, from the two originals Fernando Rivadavia and California Carnivores, Cause I don't have so much space in my graden and I don't have a greenhouse I decide to make small, This was done on May 10 I use the same standard eggcrate light diffuser, with 24 in x 48 in but I divided in three equal parts so I have a Wall with 24 in X 16 in, and I join these three parts with Locking Plastic Strip. _DSC1970.jpg por Pinguicula_RR, en Flickr You can see that I put a pipe to irrigate the panel from above if necessary, set holes every 1 inches for dripping water. Well the first step spread sphagnum over the eggcrate _DSC1981.jpg por Pinguicula_RR, en Flickr Then tie the sphagnum with a steel mesh because I can't find bird nettin, again using Plastic Strips. _DSC1982.jpg por Pinguicula_RR, en Flickr Now fill the holes with Ping mix _DSC1987.jpg por Pinguicula_RR, en Flickr And finally put sphagnum on the other side of the wall, and tie around with fishing line, 0.8mm _DSC1991.jpg por Pinguicula_RR, en Flickr And this is the final product, a mini version of Ping-Wall _DSC1999.jpg por Pinguicula_RR, en Flickr This type of Ping-Wall, because is small you can hang wherever you want, and move from position north or south side face, you can use the two sides of the wall for growing plants Mainly I want to see how they grow in this wall is Pinguicula moctezumae, maybe other Pings but I don't have much plants to put in there, so I start with some seedlings. Hi Marcel thanks for your recommendations, I didn't grow this plant in a tank, I let grow in my garden cause I live in tropical zone, the min Temp is18°C (64°F) and max Temp is 32°C (90°F) with >60%HR all the time, so I think this plant can grow without any special treatment, and this plant catch a lot of insects by itself, I'll let grow the course of the flower and let's see what happens. When you seek a microscope lens, try to have the following legend ELWD (Extra Large Working Distance), That will give you more working distance between the subject and the lens, I have 4 microscope lenses, the best of all is Nikon 10X CFN Plan Achromat Objective 0.30 160/0.17 The distance is 9.22 mm between de subject and the lens, I have another very good lens is the JML 21mm directly from JML Opticals, This lens works probably as a 4X depending on the length of the bellows but is really good lens, and 2 other good lenses and relatively cheap which you can also practice 4x an 10X Nikon Achromatic from Edmund Optics. Thank you all for your nice comments Hi Greg for Pinguicula moctezumae I'll take care something like this: The medium that I use is a part of each: Silica Sand (3-5mm), Perlite (3-5mm), Pumice Rock (3-5mm), Peat Moss, lava rock (3-5mm), and a part of Clay (I take on a mountain near here). Light: 4 or 5 (6AM-10AM) hours of direct sunlight in the morning and then only filtered light. Humidity: >60%RH. Water: I put the pot in 3 cm of rain water during the night every two days. Temp: Where I live the Temperature is tropical, so Temp media is in 16°C (60°F) min and 32°C (90°F) max, with 6 months of heavy rain, but the plant lives in lower temperatures. Hi Zlatokrt I use a Nikon D7000 with Micro nikkor 105mm macro lens, and some components like extension tubes for more macro on the images, Raynox Close up lens 250 and 150, SB-700 Flash for all photos, and for the byblis photo I use a microscope lens, Nikon CFN 10X/160 mounted in a bellows and shot about 44 photos with all depth of field, then all images load in stack software and produce a final photo, this is a really slow process for taking all photos a process all images, but he final photo is amazing.
