johns
In case there's anybody here who hasn't yet gotten enough of pictures of the common butterwort, here are some taken in the Oslo forest this summer. I found them growing mainly on the side of dirt roads and wet parts of trails. The last group of pictures is from a flat, vegetation-free area below a dam. It's actually easier to find sundews (in particular the common sundew), as the numerous nutrient-poor bogs provide a natural home for them. The butterworts seem far less at home; to ramble on for a bit, what puzzles me is that there are seemingly no natural butterwort habitats to be found around here. 28, 29 June: 2 july: 22 july:
Carlos Rohrbacher
Beauty pings, thanks for sharing (here don't have this genus to see in habitat )!
Daniel O.
Nice pictures. The soil seems to be very dry. At what altitude are they growing there? Best regards, Dani
johns
The soil can indeed be drier than what one would expect. But the habitat was always slightly moist, for example where I found them growing along dirt roads, wet ditches provided extra moisture. The altitude was about 200 meters above sea level.
