chrisbrown1978
hi I am thinking of adding a bog garden but want to use some gravel in the bottom of the pot as well as some drainage holes what would be the best type to use so a excess of salts and minerals does not occur Regards :? chris
Guest Aidan
Any type as long as it is lime free. Garden centres usually stock a variety of types and grades that would be suitable.
gooner
An easy way of telling if gravel (or stones) has lime in it is to sprinkle it with vinegar (the stronger the better) if it fizzes up that means there's lime in it and should be avoided. You might look slightly foolish down your local B&Q with a pot of vinegar but what the heck - your plants will thank you cheers
