kenmc
Hiya, I've got a capensis and an alicia which are about to come into flower - how do I go about pollinating these, or do they do so themselves??? Cheers Ken
Rita
Hi, they both do so themselves. Be carefull: Drosera aliciae is the right spelling. When the flower stalk will turn black you can cut it and collect seeds. bye bye, Rita

Guest tree terror
use a small paint brush and get the pollen from one flower and put it on the other flower you can also do this to help polinate any flower.
vic brown
It's not quite as simple as that, if you want to sucessfully ensure you create a hybrid between two sundew species. First you have to ensure that self-pollination doesn't take place, otherwise you could find yourself growing the 'mother' or seed parent species instead, particulary likely to happen with species which self themselves in cultivation. First remove all of the anthers from the proposed seed parent, you should do this very carefully with very fine forceps and as soon as possible after the flower has opened, so that the pollen doesn't go everywhere. Then you can make the cross. Vic
