Cromp
Can someone confirm or deny this is the real thing? Thanks,
Guest Aidan
The plant certainly looks similar, but as there is only one published photograph it is impossible to be certain.
alexa
I have been looking for this plant for ages. I have a couple that came frm different sources, both claiming that the plant genuine. My pitchers are not yet open but the flowers on one are huge so I am inclined to believe that's it's genuine. Slack does say that the flowers often open at the same time as the pitcher so I guess I am still none the wiser. Alex:)
Alexis
I've seen a definite real one and it has a lot more white in, as you would expect with the strong leucophylla parentage. It is also quite a strong bushy grower. I have one that was described to me as Daniel Rudd, but it is more red than yours Wouter, with a thinner neck. My plant just looks like a nice moorei and it's possible yours is the same kind of cross.

Mike King
We all simultaneously posted, where did you see tha, Alexis?
Alexis
The National Collection at Bamber Bridge. John Ainsworth kept it in a separate greenhouse from the other sarras because it's so special. I saw it a couple of years ago and I can't remember 100% what it looked like, but I recall it had a lot of pitchers that were a white and a chestnutty colour. They looked quite distinctive. BobZ
The plant certainly looks similar, but as there is only one published photograph it is impossible to be certain. I have several links to purported S. 'Daniel Rudd' photos in the Photo Finder at http://www.humboldt.edu/~rrz7001/Sarracenia.html
Alexis
http://www.collectorscorner.com.au/Carnivo...ures/S002.1.jpg looks similar to the one I saw. http://www.cpukforum.com/images/Dscf0024.jpg is the version I have.
Mike King
Hi Alexis, The one that was quite white is not the plant when comparing to the photo in the book IMO. I will take a look at mine once its matured..
Alexis
Hi Mike I don't have the book and can only go by the memory of what I saw. I'm pretty sure the reddish moorei looking plant I and some other have is not the real deal and that there was more white in the plant I saw.
