Belinda
Hi These are the result of our first field trip since we became interested in carnivorous plants . Location : Close to Home - mid blue mtns Sydney Australia We decided on a local bush fire trial which appeared to have a few small streams crossing it as it made its way into the national park . The first likely looking area - a small wet area on the fire trail. some of the plants found in this small wet area. Spatulata i think . The fire trail wandered down the gully for another couple of kilometers when we came across a small swampy area partly cleared by national parks . Here we found some small stands of binata ( i think). This is where we got our first casualty my son got a leech on his lower leg .... About another kilometer further on we came to a truly spectacular waterfall with a big cave behind it . Check out the tree fern -it appeared to float in mid air with its roots having grown up onto the rock above . Unfortunately we didnt find a lot of carnivorous plants - but i took some great photos of a water dragon perched on a log near the creek . Anyhow - sorry if this field trip is not up to the usual standard this is my first attempt . regards Belinda will fix up pic size for future posts
Guest Aidan
Belinda - It's always good to see plants in the wild and next time with luck you may find a few more! :)

Sean Spence
Nice photos Belinda. At this time of the year you shouldn't expect to see too much in the bush around Sydney. The D. spatulata and binata you saw are probably the most likely. The only other species you'll come across now are D. pygmaea and a couple of Utricularia at the very end of their flowering season. Head off again in October or November and you'll see a heap more.
