Fuggle
Hi, I am about to re-pot my Sarracenia, as it has long outgrown its original pot and needs a better soil mix. I have purchased some long-fibre sphagnum moss live, a bag of perlite and a bag of Sarracenia peat. My question is this; what ratio do I mix the peat and perlite and how do I go about adding the moss? I am told that the moss goes on the bottom of the pot, with the peat and perlite mix on top of the moss. Is this correct? Finally, should I mix the moss with the peat/perlite mix, add it to the bottom and top of the pot or both? And should the moss go in dry or pre-soaked? Tropfrog
I use 50% perlite and 50% pure peat. Your sarracenia peat already have some perlit in it. I don't grow live sphagnum in my sarrs, but on other CPs. It always goes on the top. If put in the bottom it will not be live for very long.
