finn macnair
Have a bog garden outdoors with mostly hardy CPs like sarracenia, cobra lilys, butterworts, bladderworts and the three native Drosera. But with spring just around the corner i decided to buy some more to add to the outdoors collection. Included in this buy was the Albany Pitcher Plant which i knew was gonna be a gamble outdoors but im originally from Australia and i know how cold it can get in the south so i decided like i said to take a chance and see if it will survive outdoors in Wales. My main concern is the inevitable frost that can last more than a few days in winter here, but with my other CPs i just put a fleece tent over the whole bog garden (its not massive, probably like 2m squared in total) and they were fine. Ive read in places that it can be done but just to protect over winter and others make it seem like there really temperamental plants. Does anyone else here have any experience growing these outdoors in Uk climate? Or more specifically South Wales cheers
