DCallan
Does anyone know a good place where I can buy dried spagum moss. I bought some from my local garden centre to be used as a top dressing but in watering my plant it caused the ppm to go over 200. I'd still like to try again with spagnum as a top dressing. SPHAGNUM P.I.
Besgrow Spagmoss is usually regarded as being the highest quality and cleanest available for use as a substrate for CPs. I’ve used it for years and it adds very little in terms of TDS. I usually buy the 80L (AAA premium strand) bales from https://orchidaccessories.uk but it looks like they’re out of stock. Maybe try https://sphagnum.co.uk You should be aware however it’s usually live sphagnum which is used specifically for top dressing, in which case you should look here http://www.coxnature.com Edited March 24, 2021 by SPHAGNUM P.I. Kaz
Sorry this is so late, but I use Trixie sphagnum moss from Amazon. It's supposed to be for reptiles & amphibians, but my little monsters adore it and I have got good results growing Sarracenia seeds using this. Will post a photo of the latest batch of seedings (sown Easter this year after being in the 'fridge since January).
AlainCh2
For my first "Revive" test I used Trixie as well as it was the cheapest option on Amazon: https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B002YJW382/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 82PPM before being carefully washed in Ro. And that's the result in 6 weeks ( it arrived August 10th - picture from Sept 29th) It started growing in less then 12 days. Now I'm testing BessGrows NZ but it take forever to restart growing. Only some green sign after 4 weeks :-(
