Plantfreak
Could I grow a sarracenia rubra on a windowsill with southern exposure? There are windows covering half of the room
billynomates666
You can, but even big south facing windows cut down the light quite a bit so you wont get full coloured specimen plants. They really are better outside, and they can get dormancy better out there too. Cheers Steve
Alexis
Depends where you live. A lot of sarracenia just survive outside and look pretty ropey.

Plantfreak
My only worry with growing them outside are the BURNING temperatures (104 F at the highest), and also winter temps. 10 F is the lowest temp here.
Tropfrog
I am by far not an expert on rubra or us climate. But looking at a map, you are not far from rubra natural distribution and on the same latitude. That sounds like a Good place to grow them in my general horticultural knowledge and experience. I guess there are Only two ways of finding out. Find someone that has tried in your area or try it yourself. All successful gardeners have killed a few plants learning.
