Tiny white bugs in pitcher water

Recommended Posts

Recently I've found these tiny little white bugs swimming around on the surface of the water inside my pitcher plants. They are too small for me to photograph but they look like little mites. Big body, small head and a bunch of little legs, no wings. I'm not finding them anywhere else except inside the pitcher's water. Could they be spider mites or are they something else? I don't think spider mites chill out in water like that so my assumption is they are small predatory mites that won't cause any problems for my plant?

The plant is healthy, but then again I haven't had them long and have only just realised these bugs today.

Could it be springtails? If so, no harm for your plants.

I don't think so, they're completely round and don't jump.
