Hello so over the past few years I have been looking for nepenthes everywhere as they always seem to grow in disturbed areas along the side of the road.

I Am going to Kuching to do some nep hunting in the next month or 2 months so will post what I find and visit Malesiana again. Malesiana's owner has lost interest in Nepenthes so many plants are now discontinued so i am trying to get some of the remaining clones such as there Merriliana that is massive from there own collection on site. In which they grow both highland and lowlands with ease.

But even though some clones are discontinued they do have new clones such as Nepenthes Leonardoi that is very squat and toothy.

Kuching was cancelled do to medical stuff.

But I did go to Genting Highlands and they are building a huge thing on the summit on the last montane vegetation. But I did get some photos of Nepenthes and some other stuff. It was very foggy and cold up there.

Nepenthes ramispina.

Just to let you know for growing conditions.

The soil was always made of granite and sometimes have a little bit of moss on top but was very leached.

It is 3/4 of the day foggy and drizzling all year and when fog clears there is intense sunlight.

Macfarlenei likes to grow in shadier areas and has very long tendrils.

Genting Nepenthes ramispina and Macfarlenei only seem to grow on the peak. But Nepenthes Sanguinea grows lower down.

From tests using legally collected plants Nepenthes Sanguinea is the only plants you can 100% grow in lowland unlike Nepenthes Ramispina and Macfarlenei will struggle to pitcher.

Video.

Some conditions I noticed in Rawang.

The soil was pure clay

It was 99% humid

Best plants got the highest humidity and brightest light.

All the foliage was wet.

Beautiful photos!!! Thanks a lot for writing wild plants growing conditions:tu:

Nepenthes in Bau video I forgot to post.

For growing information

Nepenthes Were growing in sand and clay soil.

Ampullaria only had basal in very very high humidity and good light.

Ampullaria vines get full sun and produce a lot of flowers when in these conditions.

Gracilis only grew in brighter places.

Humidity was like 95% and temp was 32-34 Celsius.

By using google maps you can scout out Nepenthes habitat like I have done.image.thumb.jpg.82ba41001f1337ba87a2d8931bc0f553.jpgF5F1B53C-E9C0-47D6-BB5B-AB4BDC26950D.thumb.jpeg.c6a4935890a327b80ea67a6daf89f44d.jpeg

An Ampullaria nearby Bau just looked for disturbed land.

This is the Bau location not Kalimantan one.

tips on Northiana:

It grows in a airy peat soil with limestone underneath so it’s neutral in Ph.

only grew next to limestone.

grow on dry/moist side.

it hit 35 Celsius easily

humidity is 75% during day and 90% at night.

Its from 12-18 Celsius normally or you can just look at Genting Highlands forecast which is measured under the peak.

But most often 14-15 Celcius.
