C_Skinner
Hi all.... Im also interested in these plants aswell as Darlingtonia. Just wondering though, if they are similar to look after. Any info would be great. Cheers Chris
Langy
Hi, Chris Im growing Darlingtonia, and a few Heliamphora, and they couldnt be more different to look after in my opinion. My Darlingtonia is kept in a large bucket of water filled to the brim (which keeps the growing 'crown' of the plant submerged) outdoors all year round, and its growing just fine for me, it even gave me 2 flower stems this year! As for my Heliamphora (firstly I find thats is hard to find a good supplier of these plants, although Matthew Sopher - Hampshire Carnivores has good quality plants I have found). As for how I keep my Heli's, they are in terrariums with 80-90% humidity, 16hr photoperoid (under artifical lighting), and temps ranging from 22 deg C. in the day dropping to about 16-18deg C. at night. (I know they can take lower temps but until I have built my new glasshouse thats how they are kept - and doing quite well too). I hope this helps you out a bit, without putting you off from growing these lovely plants. Langy
C_Skinner
Ok. Well i only have a medium sized terrarium so maybe i could try one. Humidity isnt quite as high as yours but i can probably increase it slightly. Ill try the hampshire guy and see if i can get hold of one or two. Thanks a lot Chris
