bigphil1984
Hi everyone, I'm so pleased to have received my new drosera capensis. And one has a little tiny venus flytrap growing at the Base, not sure what type or the age though?and can I just leave it in there? lol [emoji38][emoji38][emoji38][emoji38] Sent from my SM-A300FU using Tapatalk
Blocky71
That was a nice bonus mate. Whether you leave it or not is purely personal choice, it'll be fine as it is. If you do choose to re plant it then tip whole plant out into your hand and ' break the soil in half, this will reveal the vft bulb which should be easily removed, press soil back together and return to pot. Eh-Voila !
bigphil1984
I think I might just leave it mate, I think it looks good. A vft that small, does it have to go into dormancy? I had to pot on part of my alba as it was up rooted, so I pulled on it very slowly and it came out with a big long root [emoji38]Sent from my SM-A300FU using Tapatalk
Blocky71
I told you you'd be needing a bigger window ledge ! Seedling vft's and sarras can cope with skipping a dormancy but I'd say your vft, albeit young will require a dormancy period . The capensis is classed as a tropical drosera and doesn't require a dormancy so this may be a reason to split the plants up but I keep my tropical and temperate plants in the same conditions which is fine as long as temperatures don't go to much below freezing. bigphil1984
Lol, I need a green house! That should be just fine where I've got them then! The traps on the small vft are less than a centimeter in diameter.Sent from my SM-A300FU using Tapatalk
