You may not have been on the forum when we had a detailed discussion on the subject led by Kiwi Earl (see here). Earl believes that only the plants from the Carolinas should be called atropurpurea and those from FL are really rubricorpora. I don't know if any final conclusions were reached or consensus agreed on what we should call Florida the S. flava var. atropurpurea?
