Yossu
Don't get me wrong, I accept that I'll always have some, but it's getting to the point where I can't walk in there without getting a face-full of cobwebs. They also build webs between the CPs, which results in loads of dead flies on the cobwebs that should have gone in the pitchers! Any advice? manders
European or north american tree frogs apparently do quite well in uk greenhouses, but yes you would need to block all the exits. They'll eat anything that moves and can stuff in their mouths. Not tried them myself.
David Ahrens
You could try leaving conkers around in batches in the greenhouse. This is supposed to work in the house. you can get a spray if you can't get hold of conkers.
Stu
I don't actively remove the spiders as I see it as an ongoing losing battle. I do however, have a thin bamboo cane stick in the greenhouse that I use to wind up the webs when they get in the way of plants/faces! I find if you persevere in the web removal, the spider gets the idea quite quickly that it's a bad place to try and build a web.

What do you do when they start to go mouldy? Do you remove them, or do mouldy ones do the job as well?

We have a sort of duster on an extendable stick that is designed for removing cobwebs from the awkward corners of the house. I use that, but like you say, it's a losing battle. I'll persevere, but given the low intelligence levels of the flies around here, I don't hold out much hope for the spiders getting the message! Thanks

Tropicat
My best spider catchers are my neps. They catch them in the night. When I look in the pitchers in the morning I see the creeps floating around in the pitchers.... If you keep reading you will show disgust on your face: I also use tweezers to catch them and put them in my CPs. I only use these tweezers for my plants. I don't have any neps in my greenhouse as it's unheated. I do have a pair of tweezers I use for feeding bugs to the CPs though
Tropicat
there you go. I am scared of spiders, so I need long tweezers to put some distance between me and them. Feeding them to my CPs has helped me to overcome this fear of spiders... strangely enough...
