Anybody had problems with Carnivoria.eu?

Recommended Posts

Anyone ever had any issues with Carnivoria.eu? I placed an order with them in February for a number of Utricularia species but have not received delivery of them.

I have followed up with David via email twice. First he stated he had to check his postage receipts. I followed up a short time later and he said he would send it the following week (24th April) when the weather improves. A week later another email to say he has to check his postage receipts again. I have recently asked for an update again but have had no response. I really want the plants I've ordered but don't know whether to call it a day and claim my money back through PayPal.

I'm with ada on this one, making you wait 4 months without prior agreement and the lack of communication is just bad business, reclaim your money mate .

Well they refunded my money. But to be fair, I would have preferred my order of plants but they chose the easier option. No explanation, no apology just a refund. Lesson learned and I don't order from them again.

Hi Richard,

They have to refund the money, you haven't recived the goods mate.

I know what you mean about wanting the plants more than the money, but do you realy want them from that seller now!

Do you still have the e-mails if yes photography them, I know it sounds over kill but you just never know, and they are a document of how you have been treated,

Best of luck

Just signed up to add my experiences: I paid for an order two weeks ago but haven't heard anything from David since, not even a confirmation he received the payment, even after sending followup emails. I don't think there's any ill intent behind it because the first time I ordered from him, everything went well. Still, my money is now in limbo and I have yet to see any plants. I don't mind waiting for them a bit longer, as long as I would have an idea of when they would be sent. Now, I don't even know if they will be sent. It can't be that difficult to send a quick email saying he's received the payment but is busy with something or other so can't send the plants until a certain date.

It's hard to recommend a shop that doesn't reply to customer emails, especially if you've already paid but haven't received your product yet. I hope this will be solved soon.

Bought from him back in 2012, good and healthy plants, still have them.

I ordered yesterday two nepenthes, you can see in his site that till 19/06 they are in exhibitions so they are busy now.

Well, then it'll be at least four weeks since I sent my money without receiving so much as a message in return. And it seems those exhibitions only started eleven days after I paid. Even then, there's no way replying to a customer is too time consuming even after a long day.

Last time I also received nice and healthy plants (although unfortunately one of the pygmy drosera has died, but the others will produce enough gemmae to make up for the loss), and I'm sure the new plants will be just as nice. Just wish I'd have an idea of where they are and when they'd be coming my way.

David just got back to me, apparently he has a huge backlog, which along with the exhibitions is the reason for the delay. All seems to be well now, and I'm looking forward to receiving my new plants by the end of the week (or the beginning of the next).

  • 3 weeks later...

Hello all, i have also ordered plants last month and already paid by paypal. David said he would send my consignment last week but nothing arrived and i emailed him a few times and no reply...The amount of plants he have available is amazing and im looking to order again in the future but he is not even replying to my emails... Can i ask if he has replied to anyone this week or recently?

He last sent me a message on the 21st regarding the order I posted about above, which was missing a Utricularia praelonga he knowingly did not send due to low stock but didn't inform me about it beforehand. (The other plants arrived in good condition.) I replied saying he could send it if he would get new stock sometime in the future, or otherwise refund it, but have received neither a Utricularia praelonga, a refund or a reply. Honestly this just smells like amateurism and I think he's in over his head. Who sends an order with a missing item out to a customer and waits for the customer to complain about the missing item, instead of simply emailing before the order is sent and even before the money is paid that "sorry, this is actually out of stock, do you want something else or shall I take it off your bill?"?

If you want to order something and get it delivered without hassle, don't order from carnivoria.eu. I'll stop recommending it because the jumping through hoops to get your order is getting ridiculous.

Unbelievable, I'm so happy to be dealing with UK business (Hampshire carnivores, Nigel H C, Triffid ect ect), I have never had a problem with any of them.

I orded some plants from Insectenfang a week or two ago and I received an e-mail saying "they are not happy with one of the plants I orded, so do I want to chooses another plant", so I choosed another plant, and they still sent me the not so good plant as a freebie to see if I can do anything with it. Witch I thought was very nice of them.

Customer service goes a long way, but sadly In your case there is no customer service! Just simply don't uese them again mate, if they treat you like that they are not worth your time and they are definitely not worth you money!

Thank you for your reply.

That is really unfortunate hopefully he refunds them. I have also read a few reviews about him and most complained about the time it took for him to reply but tolerated it because of the price of some plants were a bargain. He should really get someone to managed the emails or he is going to lose customers.

Since this is actually the first time i ordered online, i am not sure i should be patient or nervous... I actually sent another order to  see if he would reply and he did but nothing regarding the previous emails, only the about the order i just made, i guess i should be more patient, but he hasnt replied to my previous mails for 2weeks already.

I've yet to receive anything, too. I can't be bothered to send more emails, but eventually I will just go on PayPal to ask for a full refund for the entire order (the missing plant was only one tenth of the price). If that doesn't wake him up I don't know what will.

Hello, after 3weeks David finally replied to my email on the comfirmation of my consignment...but now i would have to wait another 20-30days for the CITES that i requested,.This entire procedure probably will take over 3month.

Anybody else get any plants from David recently, I'm still waiting on some sterile culture from January that he was supposed to send me while I was in the EU (along with another utric that he never sent which I'm guessing I won't be getting unless he also puts that in sterile culture).

I'm also wondering if one of the plants I did receive while in the EU is actually the right plant. When he sends utricularia do they get contamination from things like subulata? I keep getting what looks like cleistogamous flowers from what should be a U. bisquamata Betty's Bay

Maybe it's still acclimating but I'm not sure, I'll have to bring it up with him next time I get a reply.

I'm still waiting for a reply, Utricularia or refund (been waiting for nearly a month now, closer to two since I paid) so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

As for the plants themselves, the plants I've received were correctly labeled (with some unidentified Utricularia growing in the bits of soil stuck to Drosera binata roots), although calling a Drosera adelae with leaves of 2cm max (!) a 'semiadult, adult' plant is probably a bit of false advertising. I'm sure at one point it was an offshoot of an actual adult plant, and it grows fast, of course, but it isn't really what I expected to get.

In fact, I'll add a list of everything I've ordered (one order in April and one in May), and how it's all doing now:

- Darlingtonia californica (young): only had 1 pitcher of about 10cm with an undeveloped tongue when it arrived, did nothing for a month and a half, and then shriveled up and died
- Drosera adelae: as I wrote above, much smaller than expected but doing well
- Drosera binata var. dichotoma 'Giant': looked pretty awful when I received it with all leaves, although huge, in a state of decay, but now sending out new leaves and doing well, also has an unknown Utricularia growing around it
- Drosera roseana: I got two of these, the first one died soon after receiving it, the second died a week or so ago after sending out a flower stalk, could be my fault (and they're so tiny it could also just be their fault)
- Drosera burmannii seeds: perfect germination
- Drosera capensis 'Giant' seeds: perfect germination
- Moss: a mix of many different Sphagnum species, doing well, although the pieces of fern leaf in it make me wonder where it's from
- Utricularia praelonga: see posts above, still waiting to receive a clump or a refund
- Utricularia sandersonii: doing well, it had a flower left when I received it and is now sending out new flower stalks

As you can see, some mixed results. YMMV!
