Attachment capacity.

Recommended Posts

Hi Admin, has the attachment capacity been reduce, I cannot find any of my pictures since the change and while trying to post on the sales forum to enable the upload of five images each around the 70/80Kb size I have had to delete Five images from other topics, so now those topics have the content but no pictures.

Does this mean that we are going to have a lot of Forum topics without images.

Thanks

Ron

Hi Ron

Have you tried uploading your images to the gallery section and linking in from there?

I'm not sure if it's been reduced or not, and I don't know how to find out.  Perhaps a few others who regularly post images could help out with advice here.  @Hannahraptor perhaps?

It is quite awkward to post pictures on here, compared to other places.

some times it is straight forward and sometimes i just give up and don't post. Many friends have said its too hard

I use photobucket. Upload to photobucket, press 'share' then copy the 'direct link'. Paste link in to post. :)

Same here. Started using it before forums allowed direct linking of pictures and has become the norm for me.

I use the gallery here to load pictures. Here's how:

  1. Click on gallery on the main menu
  2. Click on Add Images
  3. Under Select Category choose Member's Gallery (the only option)
  4. Create a new album or select an existing one then Create New/Use Selected Album
  5. Drag and drop your files from your file manager to the window
  6. With the file loaded and finished navigate to the image you want
  7. Right click and select Copy the image location
  8. Navigate to the post you want to load the image
  9. Click on Insert other media and select Insert image from URL
  10. Paste the image location from 7. and it should appear in your post

Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone, and thanks also Martin for the How To list, I had tried before after the changes to find MyPictures in the Gallery but could not find them, I will give this a go.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks linuxman--I think I've got the hang of this.  No doubt it will become second nature after a while.

Is there a maximum file size for the photo  in the gallery when doing this?

At the top right of the page is your user name which is a drop down menu. Click on this and select Profile. On this page are 2 tabs Activity and Albums. Select the Album tab and you should see all your existing albums. Select the required album and in Firefox I can then hover over the image (the pointer should change shape) and right click (a pop-up menu appears) and do the Copy image location thing. But you can also click on the image and then while on the image right click etc.

Regards,

It used to be 1Mb, but not sure now. I scale all my images to 800x600 to reduce people's download bandwidth.

Thanks Martin, I am using a Mac and when I hover over it, it just shows my picture detail, before the changes I used to have the drop down box which gave about four options including copy url but I don't have that anymore. It used to be very easy before but things seem to be missing now.

I will keep playing, Thanks.
