Gelli Gron
I'm tired of fighting the aphid war with tweezers, submersion, bad language and negative vibes, and feel that it's time to use something more direct when the outbursts are particularly bad. Much of the online information regarding the best pesticides seems to reference US products - does anybody know if products such as Orthene are available in the UK, and whether they can be bought in anything less than half-tonne vats? Any advice on the best product that's available in the UK? Many thanks!
Killian
Bayer Provado, which is the same as Calypso in Europe, is safe to use on most CP's. But I'd still advice to test it out first using only small amounts. Aphids are one of the easier pests to get rid off, should take about 24hrs.

manders
I tried some on utricularia alpina and it killed it stone dead. Most other plants seemed ok with it though.

Habber
Pravado soil drench works very well.you don't have to spray the leaves just drench the soil and the jobs done.i tryed the spray but my vft's and sundews didn't like it so i switched to the soil drench instead Sent from my SM-T210 using Tapatalk

lesthegringo
Over here in Australia I can get an imidocloprid based insecticide in a spray that I have used on droseras, dioneias, nepenthes, sarracenis, utricularia, heliamphora and cephalotus without any ill effects Cheers Les
Gelli Gron
Thank you everyone! I'll give Provado a try, sounds like a tried and tested faithful. Diolch!
YaronR
Look for an ingrediant called Imidacloprid, and contains no soap or oils. The brand name changes, but the chemical is the same world wide. I use it on many CPs.Dionaea seem to decline a bit after usage and then recover, but other than that no problems.I use it in the water, and it kills even the aphids I don't see.Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
Fabrice Reolon
for imidacloprid the brand name is CONFIDOR J® from bayer it's now forbidden in France. it was too toxic. The professionnal brand name gaucho was also call the bee's killer. http://www.roses-anciennes-eve.com/epages/rosesanciennes.sf/produits/81461_INSECTICIDE CONFIDOR J®.html
