SamuelRodryg
Hello guys My friend questioned me if would be possible to propagate a sarracenia by a flower stalk like we do on dionaeas and some droseras... Is it? Thanks S.R. Edited March 2, 2016 by SamuelRodryg
Alexis
Not unless you can pull some rhizome off with it I'm afraid. Just use a leaf instead.
billynomates666
To stand a chance with a leaf you will need some of the rhizome attached (the white bit on the bottom of the horse shoe shaped clasp at the bottom of the leaf) and to remove a lot of the pitcher so the transpiration from it doesn't exceed the moisture input. ada
I wouldn't bother, just do a rhizome division instead its much quicker
SamuelRodryg
Rhizome Division? Like cut it in peices with attached roots? Like in this foto?
linuxman
Yes, something like that. I usually just break off the rhizome with no growth points and pot that. Most of the time it sprouts many new growth points.
ada
it works better if you leave the surface of the rhizome exposed to the light and clean any dead material off the rhizome
