Maciej Stelmach
Hello, A friend of mine visited Palma de Mallorca and he came by an unusual tree. Can any of you ID this plant? I'd greatly appreciate it :)
Hud357
No idea what it is but those seed pods are just 'wrong'.
partisangardener
Maybe its a Mulberry (Morus alba ?) with a non serated foliage form.
Maciej Stelmach
Fruits look similar but I'm sure it cannot be the same species. There's a chance it's some other species from the genus Morus - I'll try to investigate it. Thank you!
partisangardener
I asked the specialists of garten-pur. It is the Elephant tree or Ombu tree Latin Phytolacca dioica. Not related to Mulberry. It is from South America Argentina and Uruguay only good for shade. The fruits are possibly a bit poisonous Edited December 19, 2015 by partisangardener
