James
Hi all, as the title says, out of the three little plants, one I have nicknamed "freak" lol as he has decided to start throwing out larger pitchers. Should I scoop him out and put him in his own pot? So he doesn't start to crowd out the others. Thanks James Cephalotus by James Cross, on Flickr
Buster
If you do decide to repot, I suggest you leave 'freak' close by and maybe teach it to sing Montell Jordan's 'This is how we do it' ? (Sorry I'm waiting for the England v Wales kick off while drinking copious amounts of homebrew)
dimitar
I would repot all 3 plants in separate pots if u have place for more pots. Usually I prefer repotting in mid winter when my Cephalotus are in their full dormancy...
Blocky71
Personal choice really James but bear in mind the general rule is cephs don't like being disturbed. It may sulk and and stop growing for a while or it may carry on throwing up happy new pitchers, you can't predict it unfortunately. Most people repot at the end of winter when the plants are already inactive. If that was my plant I would repot the two younger plants into new pots and leave the bigger plant in the pot its in, trying my best not to disturb it too much. As for Buster, I think you should make your next drink a black coffee!

corky
Hi James , if you go for the repot try to scoop the plants out so you keep the rootball as undisturbed as posible and keep as much of the old media around the roots as you can
James
Thanks all I was thinking along the lines of scooping the larger one out using a couple of spoons with as much soil with it as possible, then just filling the hole with my usual Cephalotus soil mix. Although as suggested I could take out the others I guess...options...options. James
mobile
Hi James, what was the source of the plants, pulling or seed?
James
Hi pullings as far as I know, and just a normal standard Ceph. Anyone tried airpots for their plants I have a couple I was thinking of giving a couple a go. mobile
Airpots are quite large, even the smallest one. I have used small mesh pots though, which theoretically should achieve the same result.

Anyone noticed if they liked room to spread or more cramped conditions? James
dimitar
The bigger pot the better.
mobile
I personally find mine seem to do better when slightly cramped.
FredG
Have it / them cramped in as large a pot as possible and please everyone Naturally you'll have to also keep them absolutely sodden on the dry side too.
