Ron
Advice please, I purchased a Darlington this year and it was in flower when it arrived, I have just collected the small amount of seeds, and was wondering when is best to sow them, and onto what type of compost. SoLongFairWell
Sow them now on dead Sphagnum so that they can stratify in the cold over winter.
Ron
Thanks Richard, when you say dead Sphagnum do you mean the dried compressed Supershag Sphagnum from New Zealand. Ron
SoLongFairWell
Yes that will be fine, or the stuff you buy in bags for lining hanging baskets in garden centres. I only say dead as the live stuff grows faster than the seedlings and you don't want them suffocated. Mind you, it probably happens like that in the wild so I could be wrong. olivier marthaler
(btw: plain moss peat is OK too for sowing, I perso mix it with perlite to make it a bit lighter, but I don't think the medium matters so much, and stratification seems not to be SO important for Darlings, from what I have read on many forums...) Best wishes for growing and for the new year, OL
Ezza
Hi, I have ordered some Darlingtonia seeds from America and am unsure as to whether to straify in fridge or put straight into medium in greenhouse? Bearing in mind I am in south west UK and it is the 1st of May.

ada
depends on what seeds you want, everyones plants will be flowering soon,so there will be plenty on offer from early summer to autumn. some people will have a few of last years if you're lucky
