My heliamphoras

Recommended Posts

Some of my Heliamphoras and Nepenthes are growing only in living sphagnum

But sphagnum are large and fast-growing relative to other mosses, therefore in my displays I use other much smaller bryophytes: Hypnum cupressiforme, Brachythecium rutabulum, Leucobryum glaucum and others. They only grow on a substrate which is a mix of peat and perlite (in this mix grow heliamphoras)

This picture shows how fast growing sphagnum relative to other mosses

Love your quelchii (auyan tepui) I just got a really nice plant of this a few weeks ago, hope I can get it to flower as well as you do. Do you use nz sphagnum for this as well?

Krzysio, your H. exappendiculata (Chimanta) looks just like the Amuri form - with hooked lid and nectar glands on the back of the leaves.

Heliamproa are for sure nature's own sculptures! How do you bring those magnificent colours out of them?

Heliamphoras intense coloration is the result of a large amount of light and the night temperature drops (from 21 to about 15°C)
