Nepenthes Lowii
I visited california carnivores and they gave me a free water wheel plant. I live in Texas and I haven't a clue to care fr them. the water in the trays for my other plants outside get to like 100 f in the day and I think that will kill them. In cal. Carn, they hade them growing in a tiny tub by themselves, but I don't think that's longterm. can I just grow them in the water tub where all of my temperate plants grow? or will I need a pond type thing? thanks
SoLongFairWell
They need quite specialised ecology in the water and will decline fast if they don't get it. There's some info in The Savage Garden and maybe some on California Carnivores website too.
SoLongFairWell
I had a thriving colony last year but it got overtaken by filamentous algae and I think all the plants are dead now. I shall set a new tank up over the winter and leave it mature before trying again next spring.
