Christian
Hi, in this topic i will show some pictures of Drosera capensis in habitat. Interestingly, this plant is certainly not a weed in it's natural environment but rather rare. The first pictures are from 2009 and show plants we found close to Theewaterskloof Dam. There the plants are growing on vertical walls, hanging more or less on their roots. More pictures will follow. Christian

Christian
Hello, here are some pictures i took in 2012 at a location close to Gordon's Bay. There they grow side by side with Drosera aliciae (not too unusualy to see both of these species growing together). We looked for potential hybrids, but could not find any. On the same location (but in more dry habitats) you can also find Drosera trinervia, zeyheri and hilaris. Christian

Christian
Hi all, Manders, Drosera capensis often grows very wet (at least in the south african winter/spring). They are often found standing in shallow water or on places where water runs down for some reason. That is, btw, not the typical carnivorous plant habitat in South Africa. Most of the other plants are growing much drier. Here are some more pictures, this time from a location we found close to the Du Toit's Kloof Pass in September 2014. JohnnyBlaze
Hello! I'm visiting South Africa in September with my GF and was wondering if you had found any good web resources or contacts for locating wild populations of drosera (especially alba), genlisea, and roridula.... My net searches have not turned up much :/ Big thanks! Jon
