Beginner needing help with Nepenthes and Heliamphora!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I recently bought a Nepenthes and a Heliamphora for the first time and think something may be up with them so any help or opinion would be awesome! Both plants were damaged from the postal service so have got some damage from that.

Cheers!

Sorry for it being the wrong way round!)

In this picture you can see that theres two brown dots on one of the main trumpet, anyone know why this is? Also the spoons don't seem to have any nectar in them?

The Nepenthes has developed a pinky colour on its leaves since I received it they have definitely developed, and have become more visible over time. I know the traps are a mess but most of them were squashed when delivered to me.

Thanks for any help!

Plants always get squished a bit in shipping. It is something that you will get used to. These are two healthy plants nothing to worry about. As for the heliamphora , the plants are very fragile and the pitcher will break easily. I would say that the spots are nothing but I am not a specialist in heliamphora by any means. Your nepenthes is fine, it looks like a lowland (nepenthes hookeriana?)Just keep it humid and warm ! With nepenthes hookeriana I would must the growth tip regularlyafter postage from my experience. And you should have great success.

Good luck in your growing

Those two look suspiciously like two plants I got a few months ago. Nepenthes 'Hookeriana' and Heliamphora heterodoxa X nutans.

If they are then I wouldn't worry too much. Both went a little 'backwards' at first but soon settled in. Both are now throwing up new growth. The Nep. is already getting a bit out of hand. It has thrown up four new leaves in the last month. All with pitchers in various stages of maturity.

Hello,

Nothign to worry about your plants. The Heliamphora is looking fine, do not forget to give it a lot of light for best results.
