Nick1234
My S. purpurea ssp. purpurea has just sent up a flowering stalk is it common for this species to flower in mid-summer?
Guest Aidan
It is late, but all Sarracenia have a tendency to do this now and then. It is not uncommon for flowers to continue to appear until well into the autumn, although they often never fully develop.
Mike King
Hi Nick, Late Summer flowering can be triggered by a prolonged spell of either warm sunny weather following another prolonged spell of wet, cooler weather or vice versa. Last year I had nearly 20 late flowers
Nick1234
Thanks guys. The cool/warm pattern certainly fits with the weather we've been having here in Sheffield this month.
