tropicbreeze
MyAmorphophallus gigas flowered recently. Looked amazing, it's aptly named. Got to 3.1 metres tall. From the top of the spadix to the bottom of the spathe was just over a metre.
Maik
Unbelievable, what a great plant. Congrats for that success. What is the smell of that flower like? Regards, Maik
tropicbreeze
Some other Amorphs I've noticed had a sort of old cattle urine smell but this one was more distinctly rotting meat. It wasn't all that strong though, Possibly being so high up and out in the open dissipated most of the smell above head height. Maybe in an enclosed space it might have been different. I don't mind not finding out
Gaz
Very impressive, how long have you been growing it.
tropicbreeze
I've had it since 2009. Got it as a 245 gram tuber. But it's had a few accidents in that time. The wind broke it one time. A falling tree branch another. Got hit by too much direct sun while I was away. So it's been through some rough patches, but I'm glad it made it.
