What type do you have? I haven't got any pics of when I kept a few but I had African flower, orchid and double-shield mantids. I intend on getting a nice Idolomantis diabolica at some point in the future as they are stunning!

I Don't keep Mantis, but I have come across them during my Macro photographing days. I took quite a few photos and had recently share in another forum.

nice photos.

we have about 30 mantises (and counting)

  1.  7 Phyllocrania paradoxa
  2.  3 Stagmamantis theophila (breeding)
  3. 4 Pseudocreobrotra wahlbergii
  4. 5 Hierodula majuscula
  5. 3 Empusa pennata
  6. 6 Deroplatys desiccata

But on the 4th october (tommorow) we will go to the AES show in kempton park london, and hopefully get some Blepharopsis mendica

writing all those lantin names was exhausting.

I will post some photos soon

I had a pet one that lived in the greenhouse (it could leave at anytime but I fed it on occasion), it was an albino, which was why when I devastatingly found it dead on a bench I preserved it in a jar with a native stick insect that also lived in the greenhouse, they seem to like the citrus tree's near the greenhouse, in particular the stick insect that live on bottle brush tree's and lemonade tree's.

Tenodera sinensis i think.

i remember throwing the ootheca's in the bin thinking that they had been laid and were infertile.came home from the pub a few days later and thought i was seeing things as the whole house was covered in a few thousand tiny mantids then remembered i hadnt emptied the bin.looked in the bin and they had all hatched

That taught you not to throw ootheca's in the bin.

What did you do to them all?

Hi,

i have had a Hierodula membranacea from India. She lives 10 months on a big Yucca in my living room. This species is very easy and nice in open culture on a bigger plant....I feed this nice species with pests from the pet shop with forceps. In the end time it had a lenght of 11cm.

Best regards

Tobias
