Nepenthes truncata or not truncata ? That's the question...

Recommended Posts

Hello hello hello,

I've obtained there is several months a young pretended Nepenthes truncata which is just starting to grow after its acclimatization.

However a grower thinks it's possible that it's not... So I want to be sure and I ask you : what do you think ?

Hi Kiwano

this plant is most likely a hybrid involving truncata.

N.truncata does not have speckled pitchers.

So the supposition was founded : it's really a hybrid. Somebody pretends on Facebook (where the debate has begun) that this plant could be a N. fusca x robcantleyi. The identification begins to be hard.

Someone tell me I'm not the only one whose thinking N. truncata x spectabilis...

Here are some photos of N. truncata x spectabilis from CPphotofinder.

You'd have to make a really good case to convince me it's anything otherwise...
