Looks like something has interfered with cell division and growth at the distal end of the trap. Post another picture when that emerging trap develops. edit Looks like there was another leaf that had died and been cut off (first picture). What was the trap like on that one? If it were just me I'd compost it if I didn't know there'd be quite a few people out there willing to pay good money for it.
