Lou304
I noticed today that my Cape Sundew has a red shoot coming off the base of it. I was wondering if this could be a root or a runner?
Stu
I'm guessing probably what you have is a root that has emerged just above ground from the stem and will make its way down to the ground. Can you take a picture? This will help us to identify more conclusively.

Stu
Yeah, looks like an adventitious root, especially as the plant appears to be leaning out of the pot slightly - it's just a natural response to try and stabilise itself and maximise growth. Just gently ease the plant back a bit if you can so that the root is behind the glass and can eventually reach the ground.
