my peatbog

Here's a picture of my peatbog. The substrate consists of perlite topped off with what we call Baltic peat. The bog is starting to cover up with live sphagnum. Would the smaller plants (like Drosera) grow through this layer or should I remove some of it?

I have D.rotundifolia, anglica, intermedia and obovata in sphagnum moss bogs. They are growing through live sphagnum.

Do you really mean 20cm?  Isn't that a bit thick for moss?  Sure you don't mean 20mm?

 

This year I discovered 5 or 6  d.rotundifolia and d.anglica that had self-seeded and grown through established sphagnum, so yes they have no difficulty.
