corky
hi pulsar,do you try and propagate the spikes you cut off, i ask after reading this http://www.cpukforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=31764&hl=%20cephalotus%20%20flower%20%20propagation and thought it was worth a go,especially if it was just a case of planting in the same pot like i do with flytraps Edited April 27, 2014 by corky
pulsar
No but I'd guess they would be difficult if not impossible to root due to the different cell structure flower stalks have
corky
sorry was still editing my post
pulsar
never seen the edited post even after seeing the post id still say itll would be difficult to get good results from using them as cuttings due to various hormones in the stalk ive seen a lot of attempts using flowers ect(not carnivorous mainly bedding plants cut flowers ect) most seem never to develop good root systems of have deformed growth or continually produce flower stems id guess it could be an easier way of getting the plant into tissue culture as you would have more plant material
Veek
I counted 4 flower stalks already on 2 typical Cephs already. I am hoping for some more. I haven't decided yet wether to cut them or not.
snowwy
congrats on the flowers! How old is the plant?
pulsar
Its about 4 years old but that one in particular seems to mature quickly from cuttings I've often had it in flower about year taking the cutting
